Radio interview of Ms. Areesha Shafqat on “Breaking the Barriers” on Planet FM 87.6
On 24th July, 2023, Ms. Areesha Shafqat, Research Analyst at Pakistan Research Centre for a Community with Shared Future (PRCCSF), to the Radio Show “Breaking the Barriers” hosted by Ms. Mehreen Kayani on Planet FM 87.6, Radio Pakistan.
In the interview, multiple aspects were discussed like educational background, professional career, and current interests. Ms. Areesha Shafqat started off by introducing herself and told about her educational background, that is a MS Economics Graduate from Nust and her Bachelor’s from Comsats University. She then explained her interest in economics and how she decided to be an economist after her a level. Upon further discussion, she talked about the barriers faced throughout her career and how she was success in tackling them. Ms. Areesha Shafqat said “that anything is possible if you believe in yourself”. Later, upon asking she explained her duties as a research analyst at Pakistan Research Centre for a Community with Shared Future (PRCCSF). She elaborated that PRCCSF is a think tank, affiliated with China Communication University. It works on improving the regional connectivity in Central Asia; include countries like Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, etc.
Later in the conversation, she explained the importance of think tanks in Pakistan and how they play an effective role in breaking the cycle of negative propaganda and provide with research based on facts. Hence, more and more think tanks should be promoted in the country. At the end, Ms. Areesha Shafqat thanked Ms. Mehreen Kayani for inviting her and for having such a meaningful conversation.
