On Tuesday, 4th July, 2023, His Excellency Totuiaev Ulanbek Asankulovich, Ambassador of Kyrgyz Republic was invited to the live radio program “Eurasian Perspective” hosted by Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram, Executive Director of Pakistan Research Centre for Community with Shared Future (PRCCSF) on channel Planet FM 87.6 Radio Pakistan.
During the interview, multiple aspects were discussed, such as economic, trade and cultural. The Ambassador started with explaining the rich historical background of the Kyrgyz Republic; which dates back to 2000 B.C. It was mentioned how in the 13th century, Kyrgyzstan was conquered by the Mongols but was later invaded by Kalmyks, Manchus, and Uzbeks. In 1876, it became part of the Russian Empire, remaining in the USSR as the Kirghiz Soviet Socialist Republic after the Russian Revolution. On 31 August 1991, Kyrgyzstan declared independence from Moscow, and a democratic government was subsequently established.
He added that Bishkek; which is now the capital of Kyrgyz Republic, was once known as Frunze after the revolutionary and Red Army leader Mikhail Vasilyevich Frunze, the city was later developed and renamed to Bishkek in 1991. He stated how Kyrgyz Republic is blessed with natural vast landscapes, which is a great attraction for tourist from all around the world; mainly the European region. He further added that due to friendly weather and wide ranges of mountains and fresh water reservoirs, skiing, hiking and swimming are the main tourist activities.
Upon further discussion, the Ambassador said appreciated the bilateral cooperation between the two countries and wishes to increase trade through business delegations and conferences; especially in pharmaceutical products. It was very interesting to know the local sports named ‘’kok beru’’ which is basically riding on the horseback while going for a goat carcass. Apart from this, other sports included wrestling, martial arts, snowboarding etc.
Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram acknowledged the efforts of His Excellency Totuiaev Ulanbek Asankulovich, Ambassador of Kyrgyz Republic, for his untiring efforts in bringing the countries together and enhancing bilateral cooperation.
